EDITION Hotels is thrilled to announce its partnership across the US with renowned New York-based multidisciplinary artist, Rachel Lee Hovnanian, for the brand’s 2021 festive tree installation: TIME FOR LOVE.

With two properties in New York (Times Square and Flatiron) as well as in Miami Beach and West Hollywood, Hovnanian’s work will appear across EDITION’s four US property locations. The installations will stand as a symbol of the rebirth of life, love, and friendship post-pandemic, displaying her neon TIME FOR LOVE sign at the top of each colorfully decorated tree.

The pieces explore the need to pause and reflect on technology, the intimacy we have with it, and the potential loss of intimacy with each other that can be seen as a result. The four trees will be topped with Hovnanian’s signature neon piece as part of her Acronym Neon series. The installations are designed to celebrate the very real world around us and the truest version of ourselves.

Throughout the course of the pandemic, both Hovnanian and EDITION recognize that we have come face to face with the imperfection inherent in our own humanity, but in the absence of in-person interaction, many of us have learned that we prefer it over the lack thereof. While we had to self-isolate, our phones became our main point of connection with one another. This dependency on digital connection continues to reveal its gravitas in our own lives.

“The acronym neons speak to the self-alienation that widespread use of digital technology often perpetuates. The neons speak to a societal compulsion – to always be projecting the purified version of your life online. My work advocates for a stronger connection to our truer selves and stories in the midst of countless forces that pressure us to present only idealized, curated versions of ourselves. Each EDITION property has its own way to share this message. Perhaps it is time we Zoom in to the person next to us this holiday season – it is after all THE TIME FOR LOVE”  shares Hovnanian.

Proceeds from the tree will support Project Healthy Minds, the millennial-driven mental health nonprofit building the first digital mental health marketplace. Furthermore, the festive season will introduce the TIME FOR LOVE cocktail to the lobby bars at each of the four properties. Upon purchasing the cocktail, guests will be able to select the color that the tree lights up.

The TIME FOR LOVE cocktail combines Woodinville Bourbon, Volcan Reposado Tequila, Cynar, apple fennel & ginger syrup as well as lemon juice. Priced at $25, $2 from each cocktail sold will be donated to Project Healthy Minds.
