Maíz y Agave Coral Gables

Thursday April 25th, 2024

Maíz y Agave, a new restaurant set to open its doors in Coral Gables this spring, aims to bring the authentic flavors and culture of Oaxaca, Mexico, to Miami’s culinary scene. The restaurant is inspired by the sacred staples of corn and agave, showcasing rich culinary legacy of Oaxaca through a blend of traditional and innovative dishes.

The venue, adorned with Mexican artisans’ artwork, is divided into three unique floors, each offering a distinct dining experience. The first floor, El Patio, features Oaxacan delicacies such as Guacamole Mexicano en Molcajete and Mole Negro. Mastur Bar next door serves creative cocktails and mezcal to complement the culinary journey.

On the second floor, Los Balcones offers an elevated dining experience with a variety of exquisite dishes, including traditional Oaxacan Moles and seafood specialties. The rooftop bar, La Azotea, provides a vibrant social setting with handcrafted cocktails and panoramic views of Coral Gables.

Led by Executive Chef Christian Moreno, Maíz y Agave aims to immerse guests in the real Mexico through its cuisine, culture, and hospitality. The restaurant’s commitment to supporting the Oaxacan community is evident in its handmade plates and traditional crafts displayed throughout.

Live mariachi music, signature cocktails, Oaxacan coffee, and homemade chocolates and ice cream further enhance the dining experience at Maíz y Agave. Additionally, an upcoming art gallery adjacent to the restaurant will offer a deeper cultural immersion for guests to enjoy.
