Celebrate July 4th With Milos Forman’s Epic Tribute To America

RAGTIME
Independence Day Screening
Thursday, July 4th at 2:30 PM

Driven by his experience of injustice and personal loss, Coalhouse Walker (Howard E. Rollins, Jr.) a black piano player, sets off a nationwide campaign of terror in 1906 New York. Based on E.L. Doctorow’s blockbuster novel, Ragtime dramatizes the interconnection of lives (both actual and imaginary) across the social spectrum, capturing the sense of possibility and political awakening at the turn of the 20th century. The large cast features remarkable young talent alongside the great James Cagney, who returned from retirement to star in this sprawling epic. Director Milos Forman’s tribute to his adopted country was nominated for eight Oscars. CGAC presents this classic slice of Americana as our 4th of July celebration.

“Ragtime is a loving, beautifully mounted, graceful film.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
