St. Kitts Celebrates The Success Of Its Virtual Happy Hour Cocktail Series

Last month, St. Kitts concluded a special four-part virtual Happy Hour series which showcased the range of its island rums. Hosted by Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell, the events were attended by travel agents from around the UK and the US, who received top tips on making rum cocktails while they learned about St. Kitts.

Spearheaded by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority UK, the Happy Hour series was created in partnership with Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell, founder of UK RumFest, the world’s premier rum festival. Kicking off in May 2020, the event was hosted once a month with each event featuring a key player in St. Kitts’ rum story. Special guests included Zach Brinley, founder of Brinley Gold Shipwreck Rum; Michael Garnette, chief blender at Belmont Estate; Roger Brisbane, CEO & owner of Hibiscus Spirits; and Doreen Brownbill and Kayrecia-Nero Simmons, principals at Kantours.

“I would like to extend a special thanks to all our UK and US agent partners who joined us for this fun virtual series,” said Racquel Brown, CEO of St. Kitts Tourism Authority. “The agents have been so engaged and inspired – they’ve sent images and videos of their own creations using their gifts of St. Kitts rum. We look forward to them and their clients visiting St. Kitts soon and having their own rum experiences.”

Travel agents from around the UK and the US received insider cocktail-making tips from Ian in time for the summer season. Ian’s specially curated cocktails such as “Basseterre Breeze,” “Banana Bay” and “Palmetto Point” were inspired by the island’s character and showcased the variety of rum flavors in St. Kitts from spiced rum and sorrel-infused rums to coconut rum and mango rum. As an added bonus at each event, a lucky travel agent received a complimentary bottle of rum as a special gift and reminder of St. Kitts.
