Jackson Memorial Foundation Donates $2 Million for Jackson Memorial Hospital

Jackson Memorial Foundation donated $2 million Tuesday to benefit Jackson Memorial Hospital, announced Foundation Chairman Alan Dimond.

A presentation check for $2 million was given to Jackson Health System President and CEO Carlos Migoya and Marcos Lapciuc, head of Jackson’s Financial Recovery Board, during a recognition dinner for foundation donors at Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant, Tuesday evening.

Projects supported by the foundation gift include digital mammography equipment and renovation for the Breast Health Center, hemodialysis equipment, pathology research and the Coulter Pathology Laboratory, said Roland Rodriguez, foundation president and CEO.

In addition, the Rainmaker Award, for helping the foundation with long-term fundraising, was presented to Gene Conese, former board vice-chairman. Other honorees included Harvey and Roberta Chaplin for digital mammography equipment and renovation for the Breast Health Center; Bill and SheiLa Steiner for Jackson Memorial Hospital and cancer research; Abel and Fana Holtz for their contributions in support of Holtz Children’s Hospital, Kirk Landon for contributions to nursing, and Pat Wallace, founder of the Golden Angel Society. They were among 34 Golden Angel honorees.
