South Florida Restaurants Spoil Moms on Mother’s Day

Step away from the kitschy potholders, kitchen appliances or lawn statuary and give Mom something she’ll really enjoy: quality family time. South Florida’s top dining destinations are cooking up special Mother’s Day menus that are sure to please even the most discerning palates.

Area 31 (For the Modernista Mom)
On Sunday, May 9, Area 31 is preparing a whimsical Mother’s Day Brunch offering three hours of unlimited culinary delights, Mimosas, Bloody Marys, Prosecco and fresh juices. Mom is sure to be impressed with Area 31’s two unique buffet lines. The cold buffet line will include a raw bar and ceviche bar (shrimp, tuna, oysters and conch) with domestic caviar and blinis. The hot buffet line includes waffles, cooked-to-order three-egg omelettes, Eggs Benedict, steak frites (flat iron steak, shoe-string fries and red wine sauce), grilled Corvina paired with salsa verde and baked rigatoni.
 
Price is $55++ per person and the brunch will be available from 12 to 3 pm. Children ages 6-15 are only $22++ per person. Kids under 6 eat free. The Grill on the Alley (For the All-American or Country Club Mom)
The Grill on The Alley has created a special Mother’s Day brunch menu she will not soon forget. Available on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9, from 11:30 am to 3 pm, the stellar menu includes traditional Toasted Bagel and Lox (with cream cheese, tomatoes, red onion, capers and zest of lemon), a twist on Mom’s favorite dinner salad the Cobb Omelette (with diced chicken, green onions, avocado, tomatoes, bacon and bleu cheese), the Egg White Omelette (with mushrooms, tomatoes, scallions and an avocado-tomato salsa served with sliced vine ripened tomatoes), Blueberry Pecan Pancakes (served with warm maple syrup and topped with powdered sugar) and the Filet Mignon Benedict (two poached eggs on grilled filet medallions topped with béarnaise sauce). During the meal, every mom will receive a long stem rose.

Treat your mom to delicious cocktails including the Poinsettia (Champagne and cranberry juice), Kir Royal (Champagne and crème de cassis) and more. Talavera Cocina Mexicana (For the Mamácita)
Talavera Cocina Mexicana is cooking up something special for moms by adding a new brunch menu to their already-delicious offerings. Launching on Mother’s Day, brunch will be available from 11 am to 2:30 pm, Saturdays and Sundays. Diners can experience a traditional brunch menu with a Mexican-flair while listening to the live sounds of a musical trio. Signature dishes include Huevos Divorciados (two poached eggs served over a hand-made tortilla and served with black beans and ham, one with red salsa and one with green salsa), Chilaquiles Verdes (a baked tortilla casserole in salsa verde with chicken, fried eggs and refried beans) and the Breakfast Huarache (hand-made fresh corn masa topped with black bean puree, salsa verde, goat cheese and two eggs scrambled with chorizo).

ALTAMARE  (For the Green Mom)
Because one good deed deserves a mother, ALTAMARE Restaurant has created an organic, farm-fresh dish that will be served exclusively on Mother’s Day. The Raw Taster ($12) features scallop ceviche, tuna tartare, Kumamoto oyster and sheepshead carpaccio alongside a complimentary Borek Farms heirloom tomato sorbet. The special Mother’s Day dessert is a Pistachio Crème Brûlée (with lemon sorbet and lemon shortbread – $8). The restaurant will also be featuring a Snoqualmie Naked Merlot Columbia Valley ($7), its organic wine of the day.
