Diane and Robert Moss to Chair Miami Art Museum Ball 2010 MAM’s Biggest Annual Fundraiser to Celebrate the Groundbreaking of its Future Home in Museum Park

Miami Art Museum’s board of trustees has named Diane and Robert Moss chairs for this year’s Miami Art Museum Ball. The black-tie event will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami in celebration of the groundbreaking of Miami Art Museum’s new 120,000-square-foot home in downtown Miami, scheduled to open to the public in 2013.  Held annually since 1983, the Miami Art Museum Ball caps off Art Basel Miami Beach, and is attended by art collectors, artists and cultural leaders both locally and internationally.

Diane and Robert Moss have been long-time art collectors and patrons of the arts and arts education.

Diane Moss, a member of Miami Art Museum’s board of trustees, presently serves as a board member of Art in Public Places in Key Biscayne. She has served as a member of the board of trustees of the Whitney Museum of American Art (NY), and also held previous board positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, New York. She is also President and CEO of the Helena Rubinstein Foundation.

Robert Moss, a successful business leader and consultant, currently serves as Secretary and trustee of the New World Symphony, and as trustee of The Council For Educational Change, an organization dedicated to improving public education in the State of Florida. Past positions include serving on the board of Second Harvest, the national food bank network, and as Vice President and trustee of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New York City.  He also co-founded the New York Volunteer for Youth Campaign and helped develop an “Executive in the Classroom” program to benefit students at a high school in the Liberty City section of Miami.

The Miami Art Museum Ball is the Museum’s main annual fundraiser. Proceeds from the event sustain the museum’s exhibitions and educational programming. Miami Art Museum has the largest art program in Miami-Dade County, outside the public school system. MAM & Schools presented by Target serves thousands of participants through the Museum’s free program: free buses to visit the Museum, free guided Museum tours for students and their teachers, free classroom visits, free support materials for teachers at Teacher Workshops, and more.
