More than 600 people came to the W Hoboken on Monday, Nov. 22, to support the NOH8 campaign for marriage equality. Participants received a temporary “NOH8” tattoo, fastened duct tape across their mouths and had their picture taken by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska. The event was designed to raise awareness for marriage equality and to be a “silent protest” against California’s Proposition 8, which bans same sex marriage.
The photo shoot was hosted by the NOH8 Campaign, which was co-founded by Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley. Supporters were called into the W Hoboken’s Studio 15 at a time, where Bouska directed them through a variety of poses and sent them off with a hug. The event ran from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, three hours longer than scheduled.
Cast members from the reality series Real Housewives of New Jersey and Jerseylicious were among the guests who came out to have their photo taken and support the campaign.
