Dade Medical College Welcomed Senator Bob Menendez to Miami Campus

Dade Medical College Welcomed Senator Bob Menendez to Miami Campus.

Dade Medical College recently welcomed U.S. Senator Bob Menendez from New Jersey to its Miami Campus. Senator Menendez toured the campus to see first-hand the quality of the education administered at Dade Medical College and how they address the needs of career college students.

Career colleges are clearly tied to the demands of the proposed healthcare reform since it is evident that traditional colleges and universities will not be able to meet Florida’s healthcare employee demands alone. According to the Florida Association of Post Secondary Schools and Colleges (FAPSC), approximately 60% of Florida’s healthcare employees have been trained at career colleges like Dade Medical College, whose focus is an outcome-based education.

“We were very excited to have had the opportunity to host Senator Menendez at our campus and demonstrate the importance of what our sector is doing to help educate our community,” said Ernesto Perez, President & CEO of Dade Medical College. “Dade Medical College concentrates on making sure that our students are the best prepared to meet the needs of Florida’s growing healthcare system.”

During the tour, the Senator remarked that he was not only very impressed with the Miami Campus, but also on the importance of institutions such as Dade Medical College, whose mission is to provide individuals, who under normal circumstances would not have the means or the time needed to attend a more traditional educational institution, to achieve his or her professional goal.

With more than 400 full-time employees staffing Dade Medical College’s four area campuses and corporate office, the school features a fully-licensed and certified faculty whose commitment to excellence in education are unmatched by other area colleges and institutions.  A majority of the faculty and administrative staff originates locally, with many having been educated at prestigious local and national institutions.  The college offers Associate of Science degrees in programs such as nursing, radiology, diagnostic cardiac sonography, medical billing and coding and more. Classes start every four weeks; next session begins April 18, 2011. Online course offerings will be available soon.
