Brewed Events & Wynwood Map have come together to bring a unique experience to everyone during Art Basel 2015. These two powerhouses are coming together to curate an entire block of murals, created by some of the most acclaimed artists from around the globe and a one-of-a-kind beer garden and event space. Enter Smashed Canvas, the welcome mat for the entire district housing something for everyone.
Smashed Canvas is an experience no one will want to miss. Smack-dab in the middle of Wynwood, you can find one of the largest independently produced mural installations of Basel along with your perfect getaway; a sweet, little public house featuring craft beer, cocktails and delicious food. Over 20 of the world’s best muralists, including artists such as Brain Butler, Caratoes, D*Face, Jeff Grass and Tatiana Suarez, will be painting the entire block between NW 2nd & 3rd Ave and 28th & 29th street creating the perfect reception to the beautiful Wynwood Art District. The Smashed Canvas is more than an event – it’s an experience.
With two areas, Smashed Canvas aims to please. The first area will have a beer garden style venue that will serve as the ideal place to meet friends while sitting back, relaxing and enjoying some of the most amazing attractions Basel has to offer. While at the beer garden, you can savor a myriad of bites provided Brickell’s neighborhood pub, Batch Gastropub and imbibe on exclusive craft beers and hand-made cocktails, all while rubbing elbows with the world’s foremost figures in contemporary urban art. The second space, a larger open air parking lot on NW 28th street, which will host daily festivals, art shows, concerts and more, will be completely free to the public on the main days of Art Basel 2015, December 3rd through December 6th.
“It’s pretty awesome that this whole entire block is getting painted by these sought after artists, and then they went and added special events and a beer garden which will allow everyone to enjoy it even more. Best of all, there are proceeds going to help kids in need thanks to Managed Education. Not only is this great for Wynwood, but also for the children of Miami that can go so much further with a little support and direction. It’s a win/win experience!” said creator Richard Barrenechea.
