NU DECO RETURNS TO NEW WORLD CENTER

Friday, March 29 at 8:00 PM
Saturday, March 30 at 8:00 PM

After the world premiere of Kishi Bashi’s Improvisations on EO9066 last season, Nu Deco Ensemble returns to New World Center on March 29-30 for another exciting and creative performance featuring two world premieres, a symphonic suite of music of The Police by NWS alumnus and featured Pulse composer Sam Hyken and a special collaboration with the indie-rock ensemble Tune-Yards.

The concerts will open with two full orchestral works that will utilize New World Center’s iconic sails. The first, a new commission by Greek-born composer and performer, Magda Giannikou, will incorporate music and visual projections inspired by Tarot cards and mysticism. The second is by electronic composer, Ricardo Romaneiro, and visual artist, Christian Hannon, that will include motion-tracking technology that will create an immersive 360 degree sound and visual installation. Joining the ensemble on the second half will be the inventive and imaginative, Tune-Yards, with Merrill Garbus & Nate Brenner making their orchestral debut, and the performance will conclude with an orchestral suite of music by The Police.
