On October 21, 2010 Hyundai Motor America hosted an exclusive VIP media preview of the 2011 Equus at SAWA Restaurant and Lounge in the luxurious shopping destination of Village of Merrick Park. Upon arrival, guests were greeted inside the restaurant with a breakfast snack bar and fresh citrus smoothies, and given a brief product presentation of the vehicle by Hyundai Motor America Product Planner, Derek Joyce. Derek briefed the crowd on all the features and amenities of the 2011 Equus relevant to design and fashion. In addition, invitees enjoyed an informal fashion show led by fashion guru, Godfrey del Rio, featuring Village of Merrick Park specialty retailers: Tiffany & Co., Neiman Marcus, Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg, D Store, Caché and Betsy Johnson. After an afternoon of fashion and fun, guests were invited to the outside garden courtyard for a vehicle walk-around and extensive buffet lunch. Chris Hosford, the Executive Director of Corporate Communications for Hyundai Motor America, was also present for interviews. The day ended with media test drives around the Coral Gables municipality.
