2-1-1 Broward honored eight of its community partners at the Kip Hunter Marketing “Making REAL Connections” Breakfast hosted by Signature Grand and presented by Baptist Health South Florida on Friday, May 6th at Signature Grand in Davie. Laurie Sallarulo, President & CEO of Junior Achievement of South Florida; Dana Somerstein, Associate at Greenspoon Marder, P.A. and CLUB 2-1-1; Member; Mike Keeby, Executive Vice President at Brown & Brown Insurance and 2-1-1 Board Member; Broward Behavioral Health Coalition; City of North Lauderdale; Publix Super Markets and Russo Battista Law Group were honored in recognition of the tremendous support and connections that they provide to 2-1-1 Broward and for helping the non-profit organization fulfill its mission and meet its goals. The breakfast raised more than $55,000 for 2-1-1 Broward.
In addition to the honorees above, Broward College President J. David Armstrong Jr. was honored with the Milestone Award in recognition of all the support that he and Broward College have provided to 2-1-1 Broward throughout the years.

During the breakfast, event chairs Michael Wild, Esq., 2-1-1 Board Member, and Kate Goldman with Baptist Health South Florida greeted guests and introduced Sheila Smith, President and CEO of 2-1-1 Broward, who thanked everyone for supporting 2-1-1 Broward. Throughout the breakfast reception, Gavin Gaukroger, Vice Chair of 2-1-1 Broward, encouraged attendees to get involved and support the efforts of 2-1-1 Broward by leading a call for donations. A Broward County resident helped by 2-1-1 Broward talked about how the organization helped him and his family get back on their feet. Bob Birdsong, Sheila Smith, Kip Hunter and co-chairs Michael Wild and Kate Goldman, presented the awards to the honorees throughout the event. Each table was adorned with a solid chocolate telephone made by Hoffman’s Chocolates.
Just as 2-1-1 Broward facilitates the connection of people to health and human services, its partners and supporters offer the organization the opportunities to make these connections.
