Uchibā doesn't open in Brickell until winter, but you can taste what's coming right now. From November 1 through 15, Hai Hospitality is running exclusive happy hour pop-ups at Uchi Miami in Wynwood and Uchiko Miami Beach in Sunset Harbour — a preview of the menu that will anchor the new izakaya at Mary Brickell Village.
The pop-ups run daily from 5 to 6:30 PM at both locations. The shared menu includes Edamame Jalapeño Hummus with wonton chips and black lime togarashi; Karaage with kimchi caramel, jalapeño and yuzu pear; Uchibā Salad with spicy greens, miso Caesar, hazelnut and Parmesan; and Sunomono with cucumber, mango and spicy ponzu.
Each location also has its own exclusive dishes. Uchi Miami (252 NW 25th St., Wynwood) gets Chicken Thigh Skewer and Pork Belly. Uchiko Miami Beach (1759 Purdy Ave., Sunset Harbour) gets Nasu Bao and Tiger Cry Bao.
The Cocktails
The drinks are a strong argument for showing up. Dirty Ranch Water runs Pueblo Viejo tequila with olive brine, lime, pineapple nuoc mam and highball water. The Shiso Daiquiri pairs Planteray 3 Stars White Rum with shiso and lime. Uzume brings Roku Gin, Soto Sake, cucumber and Thai chili. For the zero-proof crowd, the Lychee Fauxtini uses Aplós Ease, Origami Sake Zero, lychee, ube and yuzu.
What Uchibā Is
Uchibā — "Uchi Bar" in Japanese — is James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole's more relaxed, bar-forward counterpart to Uchi. The concept debuted in Dallas in 2018, expanded to Austin in 2023 and Charlotte in 2026. The Miami location at 900 S. Miami Ave., Space 185 will be the fourth, and the first in South Florida.
The 3,500-square-foot space is designed around vintage Miami meets Japanese alley bar: moody lighting, warm woods, rich velvets, cozy booths and a glowing central bar. The kitchen will be led by Chef de Cuisine Juan Esteban Paz, formerly sous chef at Uchi Miami. The full menu will cover yakitori, bao, sashimi, izakaya small plates and Uchi classics, plus a prix-fixe lunch.
Happy hour pop-ups run November 1–15, daily 5–6:30 PM at Uchi Miami and Uchiko Miami Beach. Reservations via SevenRooms. Uchibā opens at Mary Brickell Village this winter.
