Bar Nacional Is Coming to Calle Ocho — Michael Beltran's Next Move
The Michelin-starred chef behind Ariete is opening a neighborhood bar on historic Calle Ocho, drawing from the hotel lobby bars of Cuba's glamour era. Cocktail program by Tom Lasher-Walker. Opening winter 2026.
Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.
Chef Michael Beltran is taking his next step on Calle Ocho. Bar Nacional, a new neighborhood bar from Ariete Hospitality Group, is opening this winter at 2212 SW 8th St., adjacent to legendary music venue Hoy Como Ayer.
Beltran, whose flagship Ariete has earned four consecutive Michelin stars, is leading the food program with a menu of bar bites. The cocktail program belongs to Tom Lasher-Walker, one of Miami's most respected mixologists, who is building a list that balances timeless classics with contemporary creations rooted in Calle Ocho and Cuban culture.
The concept draws directly from the hotel lobby bars of Cuba's glamour era — specifically 1930 to 1958 — a period when Havana's bars were among the most sophisticated in the world. That's the register Bar Nacional is working in: unhurried, elegant, neighborhood-rooted.
The address puts it in the heart of Little Havana, next door to one of Miami's most important live music venues. Bar Nacional opens winter 2026 at 2212 SW 8th St.
