Seminole Okalee Indian Village

Seminole Okalee Indian Village was established in the 1960s as one of the first enterprises and eco tourism attractions of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Inc. It provided a place for employment and a location for retail sales for the Tribe’s arts and craft products. It also allowed the Tribe to showcase its culture and educate the public about the traditional lifestyles of Seminoles when they lived in the Everglades in the 1800s.  Now located at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the outdoor attraction is built around traditional Seminole “chickee” huts and pathways through a natural habitat emulating the Florida Everglades. It showcases up-close panthers, bears, alligators, crocodiles, otters, tortoises, snakes and birds of prey plus exhibits that are part of the Seminole wildlife experience. Seminole Okalee Indian Village also showcases a prestigious collection of Seminole cultural and historical artifacts and offers authentic handmade items such as dolls, basketry, clothing, bead-work and woodcraft all produced by Seminole Tribal members in its gift shop. Proud of its history and heritage, the Tribe is equally proud of its progress. Come see how the Seminoles formed a bridge to the future by honoring the past.
