His four decades of groundbreaking musical creation and collaboration have encompassed encompassed everything from baião and samba to MPB, rock, reggae, and axé. We welcome this great artist back to the stage after his years serving as Brazil’s Minister of Culture. The group is staging Dawn of Innocence, a musical by French fashion designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac that brings together their sublime bossa nova-loungey recast of New Wave hits with a fantastic stage show. His music melds his love of experimental sounds, modern dance scores, poetry, literature — within Brazil’s fantastic pop tradition. He visits Miami en route to Carnegie Hall’s landmark Voices of Latin America series.
