An exclusive U.S. solo concert by Brazil’s legendary singer and composer.  Gil’s impact on Brazilian culture has been tremendous. His four decades of groundbreaking musical creation and collaboration have encompassed encompassed everything from baião and samba to MPB, rock, reggae, and axé.  We welcome this great artist back to the stage after his years serving as Brazil’s Minister of Culture.  The evening includes dinner, drinks, silent auction, after show party with DJ Da Lua of Bossacucanova – all at the ultra-chic Frank Gehry-designed New World Center.  Your ticket also includes an annual Rhythm Foundation membership, with its year-round benefits.

Paris’ coolest band has some new twists.  The group is staging Dawn of Innocence, a musical by French fashion designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac that brings together their sublime bossa nova-loungey recast of New Wave hits with a fantastic stage show.  The troupe now includes Miami’s own Liset Alea.

The Brazilian poet, singer and composer is known as much for his groups (Titas, Tribalistas with Marisa Monte and Carlinhos Brown) as for an extensive solo career that now spans 30 years.  His music melds his love of experimental sounds, modern dance scores, poetry, literature — within Brazil’s fantastic pop tradition.  He visits Miami en route to Carnegie Hall’s landmark Voices of Latin America series.
