One on One with Dr. Gioia Gabellieri Bargagli, PHD

What is cinematherapy?  Cinema puts us in touch with the deepest roots of our identity.  A film can hold up a mirror in which we can discover our true face and break out of the mental ruts which constrain us to endlessly repeat the same errors. In her book “The Images Behind the Emotions: the Archetypes and the Power of Myth in Cinema”, Gioia Gabellieri Bargagli takes us on a guided tour of the film trilogy “Lord of the Rings” and films by directors from all over the world, and invites us to examine a number of Jungian archetypes with which we identify, thus revealing the capacity of cinema to assist the spectator along a voyage of self-discovery.
