Arsht Plus: Rhythm & Roots — Free Cuban Culture Celebration Through October 4, Inspired by Buena Vista Social Club

The Adrienne Arsht Center invites the community to a free celebration for all ages, inspired by the South Florida premiere of Buena Vista Social Club™. Arsht Plus: Rhythm & Roots runs through October 4 and transforms the Arsht's plaza into a living expression of Cuban and Latin American culture.

Guests can wander through a lively plaza filled with live music, DJs, and dancing, domino games, local artisans and pop-up vendors, plus free performances by internationally recognized artists and beloved local ensembles that highlight Miami's deep connection to Cuban and Latin American music.

Everyone is invited to step inside the Arsht to explore exhibitions, artifacts, and photography that bring Cuban culture and stories to life. The indoor programming is presented in collaboration with community partners including Conecta Miami Arts, Miami Dade College's Freedom Tower, and the Public Humanities Lab at Florida International University, among others.

All plaza programming is free. Free RSVP is available at ArshtCenter.org. The Adrienne Arsht Center is located at 1300 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. The Buena Vista Social Club™ stage production runs concurrently — tickets also available at arshtcenter.org.

The PGM Edit

Love Miami

The Buena Vista Social Club is one of the great rediscoveries in music history — a group of Cuban musicians whose sound had been largely forgotten until Ry Cooder brought them back to the world in 1997. The Arsht is doing something right by building a full community celebration around the South Florida premiere of the stage production. The plaza programming — dominos, live son cubano, local vendors — is the kind of thing that makes a cultural institution feel like it actually belongs to the city.
