The evening featured a red carpet entrance with cocktails, hors d’œuvres, a special recognition to honor Jan Moran, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and guided tours of the new facility. The evening was a great coming together of more than 300 highly respected members of our community to help WID commemorate the opening of the new, expanded home for victims of domestic violence.

The Project Safe Place expansion campaign began in 2008 with the purchase of a six-acre site that includes five buildings located in Deerfield Beach, FL. Women In Distress make the final move to expand their operations of emergency shelter and supportive services this spring. The new Jim and Jan Moran Family Center campus will double the amount of space for services to adults and children of family violence, allowing the agency to better meet community needs. Philanthropist Jan Moran is matching all new gifts to the expansion campaign with a $1 million personal challenge grant through June 30, 2011.
