Diageo Presents: Miami Spirit

12 – 7 p.m. daily Open to the public

Inspired by the neighborhoods and culture of the Magic City, Diageo will unveil two new works of art that represent iconic Miami architectural styles and are inspired by custom Diageo cocktails. This latest ode arrives in the form of two new cocktails for CÎROC Vodka and Crown Royal Regal Apple. In turn, two Miami artists – Morel Doucet and COVL – looked to both drinks as inspiration to create new heartfelt homages to the Magic City as installations at Showfields.  Local pride is sure to be served in this latest installment of cocktails and imaginative art experiences and will be available over the next 3 months, closing out Diageo’s tribute in a final flourish celebrating the Miami spirit.

Wednesday, December 1

Wade and Leta x Miami’s Alma Dance Theatre present:

Healing from Another World‘  A Slide Dance Performance

5-7 p.m. Open to the public

Brooklyn artists Wade and Leta will combine their purposeful eclecticism and performative design to install an entirely new art piece on the store’s signature immersive slide. Their quirky and crisp design will certainly make for an amazing centerpiece of the unique store.

For this site-specific installation, they seek to create a sense of wondrous joy and overwhelming excitement through their piece,“Healing From Another World,” a floating universe that flows and bounces from the first to second floors of Showfields Miami’s historical space, enveloping its metallic slide in a sea of Floridian-inspired hues of color and contrast. The inflatables that compromise this universe reference fluidity and buoyancy, referencing the way in which bubbles disperse within water as ocean waves tickle the shore.

Healing From Another World is a captivating visual experience which seeks to encourage all of those who observe it to search high, low, near, far, in, out, and around for new ways of seeing. Whether standing on the second floor to gaze down at its tops, or to lay on the floor and stare upwards at the roof, this installation incites the idea that art is approachable to all who wish to interact with it, and visitors are encouraged to formulate their own perspectives. In the way that all humans perceive color differently, all humans find meaning in what they see, and every meaning is subjectively correct.

To debut their piece, Showfields will host a dance performance inspired by the Wade and Leta installation. Over the course of the evening, dancers from Miami’s Alma Dance Theater will enchant the audience with costumes designed by Wade and Leta. The performance will be made up of 3 dynamic solos, with costumes designed by Wade and Leta.
