Ringo Starr Joined Hard Rock International to Support Haitian Relief Efforts

On Thursday, July 15, 2010, Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, FL hosted a special appearance by international music icon Ringo Starr. In honor of Ringo’s appearance, Hard Rock International and the Seminole Tribe of Florida made a donation of $197,500 to Yele Haiti, a grassroots beneficiary of Hard Rock charity partner WhyHunger. The donation represents a collaborative fundraising effort from Hard Rock’s IMAGINE There’s No Hunger Campaign bracelet sales, “Crank It Up” events at Hard Rock Cafes nationwide and a generous donation on behalf of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. WhyHunger is an organization dedicated to fighting the root causes of hunger and poverty by supporting community organizations that create self-reliance, economic justice and equal access to nutritious and affordable food. After Ringo’s concert, Ringo donated the drum set he has been playing on this 11th All Starr Band tour, which will become a permanent part of Hard Rock’s world-famous memorabilia collection.

In addition, Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, FL also featured an exhibition of original artwork created by Ringo. Each fun, whimsical and colorful piece, created on Ringo’s computer, reflects his “Peace & Love” personality. “I started in the late nineties with my computer art.  While I was touring, it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road.” – Ringo Starr 2005. Artwork can be viewed at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, FL throughout the day and is available for purchase with 10% of proceeds from sales of the collection, and 100% of Ringo’s proceeds, benefiting the Lotus Foundation.
