Pinecrest Gardens Family Garden Day

Pinecrest Gardens Celebrates Spring with Its First-Ever Family Garden Day on May 13

Neuro-divergent and cognitive-sensitive families are invited to enjoy an early access Sensory Hour

With an emphasis on inclusion and diversity, Pinecrest Gardens welcomes all families to its inaugural Family Garden Day, taking place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10:30 am to 1 pm. Make memories with your friends and family, celebrate motherhood or both during this special first-time celebration.

Neurodivergent and cognitive-sensitive families are invited to enjoy Sensory Hour, which provides early access to Pinecrest Gardens’ ADA-accessible mini-zoo, splash-n-play area, and new playground from 9:30 to 10:30 am with pre-registration. Families are encouraged to participate and stay throughout the day. Spaces are limited for Sensory Hour, so register early.

This fun and educational event brings families together for a day of exciting garden activities, animal talks, garden art, tours, and more. Whether a seasoned gardener or a curious explorer, there’s something for everyone. Aside from all the ADA-accessible activities, there are also three art galleries and shaded, winding ADA-accessible paths throughout the historic garden that feature aquatic fauna, native forested wetland, tropical hardwood hammock and cypress slough.

Pinecrest Gardens is also offering add-on activities for just $5 per person. These activities include scheduled garden tours, plant-a-seed activations and an animal talk to learn more about the Gardens’ furry and feathered friends.

Family Garden Day is free with a $5 admission charge per person. Admission will be waived for teachers who provide valid identification. All families must register at Eventbrite.

There will be treats available for purchase at Cypress Café and Concession Tower, an eco-art colonnade activation, learning & sensory garden activities, and exhibitions from Pinecrest Gardens’ partners including UM-NSU CARD, Miami Bat Lab, Discovery Lab, Pinecrest Dance Project, The Cortada Foundation and Paper Tree House.

“We invite the community to join us for our first-ever Family Garden Day. It’s a perfect opportunity to come together with family and friends to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the gardens while learning about the natural world around us,” said Cristina Blanco, Executive Director of Pinecrest Gardens. “We hope you will join us on May 13th to create new memories and experience all that Pinecrest Gardens has to offer.”
