Tucked away in the vibrant heart of Downtown Miami, Novikov Restaurant and Bar has been a staple for over five years, delighting diners with its exquisite blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Surviving the tumultuous waves of the pandemic, this culinary gem continues to be the go-to destination for dedicated patrons eager to indulge in its diverse offerings amid the stunning backdrop of Biscayne Bay.

Recently invited to experience Novikov’s latest lunchtime creations, I found it to be a perfect break from my daily grind — each dish worth savoring. The restaurant’s sophisticated ambiance, shaped by renowned hospitality expert Adam D. Tihany, sets the stage.

Chef Mykhailo Zamfira’s menu shines with new offerings like Toro Tartare with Caviar, Octopus Carpaccio, A5 Wagyu Crispy Rice, and Scallop & Black Truffle Sashimi. While indulging in some of these innovative dishes, I couldn’t resist revisiting Novikov’s beloved classic, the stunning Whole Honey Truffle King Crab Leg. The crab dish, in particular, was a standout — My, my, my! This dish swooped in like a superhero, ready to save the day. Each succulent bite was delightful.

To wash down these delights, Novikov’s cocktail program, overseen by mixologist Vincenzo Foglia, offers an array of creative libations. While I opted for a classic gin and tonic, adventurous drinkers can explore options like the blood orange-infused Kōhaku or the flavorful Smoked Wagyu Negroni. The Wasabi Martini also made a delightful return to the refreshed cocktail menu.

Throughout my lunch, the attentive service provided by Lane and manager Valeria enhanced the experience, as they skillfully guided me through the menu, ensuring every detail was perfect. Their dedication to customer satisfaction was evident, providing thoughtful recommendations and engaging with other diners throughout our meal.

A highlight of the dining atmosphere is the open fresh market concept at the back of the restaurant, showcasing a dazzling display of fresh ingredients. This interactive feature invites guests to engage with the vibrant components that shape their meals.

No visit would be complete without indulging in their unique take on tiramisu—now elegantly presented in a tin topped with pearly sturgeon caviar confections and accompanied by a trio of sorbets. This show-stopping dessert, with its smoky presentation, may just be the best sweet treat in downtown Miami.
