Miami HEAT player and South Florida native Udonis Haslem announced today that he will open his first SUBWAY® restaurant in the city of Hollywood on December 12th. For years, Haslem has been a huge supporter of SUBWAY® restaurants because they provide healthy options at affordable prices.

The Grand Opening, scheduled to take place from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12th, will be a festive affair complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a DJ, prizes, giveaways, an appearance by the Sub Man and more. The restaurant is located at Oakwood Plaza, 3050 Oakwood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL 33020.

“When I was in college, I struggled with my weight,” said Haslem. “I had to learn about making better choices concerning how and what I eat. That’s exactly what SUBWAY® represents and why I chose to partner with such an iconic brand.”

Haslem’s SUBWAY® restaurant is among the first in the nation to showcase the chain’s “metro” redesign. The new layout features a comfortable lounging area, modern finishes and flooring, and an overall contemporary look and feel. This is the first of multiple SUBWAY® locations Haslem will open in tandem with his business partner, Max Casanova.

As a hard-working man of the people, Haslem himself will prepare the first 10 sandwiches ordered during the Grand Opening (limited to one sandwich per order). Customers that attend the Grand Opening will have a chance to meet and mingle with the basketball star. In addition, Haslem intends on making frequent visits to the store to remain connected to his patrons. Future visits will often be announced through social media. Customers are encouraged to follow him on twitter: @ThisisUD and Instagram: UD40.

UD, as he is affectionately known, is a beloved figure in the South Florida community. The Broward County resident is a graduate of the University of Florida, which inducted him into their Hall of Fame in March 2012. In 2005, he founded the Udonis Haslem Children’s Foundation to help kids develop their self-confidence and reach their personal and educational potential. He is a three-time NBA champion and a co-captain of the Miami HEAT.
