Miami Dolphins Host Fins and Kids Back to School Kickoff

Miami Dolphins players and cheerleaders handed out approximately 120 backpacks and school supplies to students from various Dade (Oak Grove and West Hialeah Gardens) and Broward (Fairway, Sunland Park and Watkins) Elementary Schools along with families from the Cooperative Feeding Program this afternoon as part of the Fins and Kids Back to School Kickoff. The afternoon’s festivities began with a dance contest that was emceed and judged by the players at the team’s indoor practice facility.  After the dance contest, participants received backpacks filled with different materials from the Miami Dolphins to assist them in the upcoming school year.

Members of the Miami Dolphins cheerleading squad, Jeannette Sparano and a host of players including Jason Allen, Ryan Baker, Yeremiah Bell, Vernon Carey, Channing Crowder, Tyrone Culver, Richie Incognito, Jake Long, Koa Misi, Quentin Moses, Lousaka Polite and Paul Soliai took part in this afternoon’s event.

“I just wanted to come out and support the kids,” said safety Yeremiah Bell. “They had a great time. They were able to see a couple of players outside of their uniform and have some fun out here. It would have been really cool for me to get school supplies from a professional player growing up. I remember growing up, I was excited to get a backpack from my mom and getting it from a professional athlete, the cheerleaders and T.D. is very special.”

“Seeing the kid’s smiles really got me going,” said linebacker Channing Crowder. “It was fun for the both of us. The Dolphins do a great job with events like this and I always love to take part in activities that benefit the community.”
