Miami Central v. Miami Northwestern at Sun Life Stadium Friday, October 26, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

The Miami Central Rockets, ranked #6 in the state of Florida by MaxPreps, will face off against conference rival, the Miami Northwestern Bulls, on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Sun Life Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. The announcement was made today. Admission to the game is $12 and $15 day of game. Parking is FREE. Suite tickets are $25 per seat and Sideline Club tickets are $40. Tickets went on sale Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. via Ticketmaster and can be purchased at each school. In the last eight seasons, Miami Central and Miami Northwestern have combined to win 171 contests while collecting three state championships.

Sun Life Stadium is continuing to establish itself as the top venue in the state for high school football action this season. Previous contests include St. Thomas High School v. Christopher Columbus High School and Miami Central High School v. Booker T. Washington High School.

 

During an eight-year span (2004-11), Miami Central has racked up 81 victories including 14 in the 2010 season. Miami Central rallied in the second half to win the 2010 Florida 6A State Championship by defeating Orlando Dr. Phillips, 42-27. Earlier this season, the Rockets rallied from 16 down to knock off nationally ranked Booker T. Washington High School, 37-26, at Sun Life Stadium.

 

Miami Northwestern has 90 wins in eight seasons, dating back to 2004, including two back-to-back Florida 6A State Championships (2006 & 2007). During their championship years, the Bulls posted identical back-to-back undefeated seasons, 15-0 (30-0 overall). The Bulls have won four state championships dating back to 1995 (1995; 1998; 2006; 2007).

 

For the fifth consecutive year, both schools will play for the Commissioner’s Cup. Each year, the Commissioner’s Cup is presented to the winning team by the Commissioner along with representatives from both alumni organizations. After the conclusion of the game, a short presentation at midfield will be conducted to acknowledge the winning team along with the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) from both teams. Prior to this award, the rivalry game between the two schools was called the Inner City Classic Rivalry. Last season, Miami Central defeated Miami Northwestern, 34-18, to win the award.

 

Sun Life Stadium, located in Miami Gardens, FL is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility that is home to the Miami Dolphins, University of Miami football, Discover Orange Bowl and other world-class events.  The stadium has been home to five NFL Super Bowls, one NFL Pro Bowl, four BCS college national championships and two MLB World Series.  Sun Life Stadium has two of the largest hi-definition video boards and one of the longest LED ribbon displays in professional sports as well as the biggest point-of-sale wireless system under one roof.  Sun Life Stadium is principally owned by Miami Dolphins Owner/Managing General Partner Stephen M. Ross.
