Mall Patrons will have the opportunity to preview famed concert, followed by Q & A session with acclaimed conductor Eduardo Marturet
Mercantil Commercebank, one of the largest Banks based in South Florida, and The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) celebrate the New Year by sponsoring a free performance of An Evening in Vienna Concert on Saturday, January 16 from 12pm to 3pm at Aventura Mall. The concert will be immediately followed by a Q & A session with MISO’s Music Director and Conductor Eduardo Marturet. The acclaimed orchestra will perform in the Mall’s Center Court.
The Bank is also, for the third consecutive year, the principal sponsor of the actual concert event to be held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, January 17 at 8pm.
The concert at Aventura Mall will give mall patrons a glimpse of the actual concert, which emulates the famous New Year’s Day concert performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in celebration of the New Year. The free concert is one way in which MISO delivers its commitment to bringing classical music to the community at large.
In Austria, the demand for tickets to this concert is so high that concertgoers have to pre-register a year in advance in order to participate in a drawing for tickets. Many seats are reserved by Austrian families and passed down from generation to generation.
For the last twenty years, An Evening in Vienna, which is equally popular in Miami, has delighted both tourists and locals who have flocked to enjoy MISO’s interpretation, featuring some of Austria’s best composers. The music written by these individuals helped establish Vienna as a city of elegance and sophistication. In recent years, this event has become so hugely popular that MISO had to move the event to the Arsht Center, rather than their regular venues, due to the increased demand for tickets.
Immediately following the rehearsal, a thirty-minute Q & A with MISO’s Grammy nominated Music Director and conductor Eduardo Marturet. Marturet will be on hand to answer questions for music students and classical music lovers regarding the upcoming performance and his engaging career playing in some of the top concert halls from around the world. This will provide students with a way to follow their dream and get their questions answered. The performance and Q & A are open to the public and all are welcome to come.
