Jorge Mejia’s “An Open Book: A Memoir in Music”!

An Open Book: A Memoir in Music | March 22 @ 8 p.m. | Knight Concert Hall

An Open Book, is a music, literary, and visual tour de force, featuring Jorge Mejia, a Latin GRAMMY®-nominated composer and Steinway artist, performing narratives and playing the piano, accompanied by an all-star orchestra led by José Serebrier, featuring newly-created visual projections.

An Open Book draws on Mejia’s colorful family history in Colombia, musical coming-of-age, and charming romantic misadventures in America. Mejia’s evocative compositional style is infused with a keenly global perspective that explores intersections of identity, culture, language and love.

A heavyweight in the Latin music world, composer and pianist Jorge Mejia released An Open Book: A Memoir in Music on Sony Music on May 4, 2018. This ambitious genre-bending and Latin GRAMMY®-nominated project, born of Mejia’s devotion to storytelling in all its forms, is an audiobook alternating narrative vignettes with orchestral preludes recorded by the composer with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra.
