GRAFFITI ARTISTS: TRILOGY ART BASEL 2010

For one of the first times in South Florida a collection of some of the world’s most famous “Graffiti Artists” will come together to show their work and even create their newest images at “Trilogy” during Art Basel 2010.  Presented by So Cool Events and Scion, it will be the first gallery during Art Basel dedicated solely to Graffiti Art, showcasing the work or artists from New York, New Jersey, LA and Miami.  So Cool e-Venue, located at 2585 NW 21st Terrace in Miami, FL, will host the two day event on Friday and Saturday December 3rd and 4th.

“Trilogy” will for the first time bring together the largest group of Graffiti Artists under one roof.  Included in this group will be artists: Ewokone, Cope2, East, Rapes, Scribe, Jick, Calek2s, Mando, Vyal, and Sand One; and crews include MSG, DAM, TE, FDC, TCP, GUK, DTT, 7UP, IHS, AIM, CH.  There will be Gallery showings, live demonstrations including the painting of the outside of the So Cool E-Venue building and a Scion Car, live DJ’s and a closing night party featuring THE Scion Ice Bar and as headliner the godfather of hip hop, DJ Cool Herc, spinning from midnight to 4:00 AM.

DJ Cool Herc is a Jamaican-born DJ who is credited with originating hip hop music, in the Bronx, New York City. His playing of hard funk records of the sort typified by James Brown was an alternative both to the violent gang culture of the Bronx and to the nascent popularity of disco in the 1970s. In response to the reactions of his dancers, Campbell began to isolate the instrumental portion of the record which emphasized the drum beat—the “break”—and switch from one break to another to yet another.  Using the two turntable set-up of the disco DJs, Campbell’s style led to the use of two copies of the same record to elongate the break. His breakbeat DJing, using hard funk, rock, and records with Latin percussion, is credited with forming the basis of hip hop music.

So Cool e-Venue is a special events location that can host a wide variety of functions with full audio-visual and effects capabilities.  The uniqueness of the eVenue is topped off by the one and only Ice Bar in South Florida.  The So Cool Ice Lounge and Ice Bar is a totally unique 25’ x 30’ ice room complete with a fully functioning ice bar.  Chilled to a frosty 29 degrees, it comes complete with hooded parkas and fur-lined booties to keep its patrons comfortable. And the glasses you drink from are totally made from ice as well.

“Trilogy” will be held during Art Basel 2010, Friday, December 3rd and Saturday, December 4th at So Cool E-Venue, 2585 NW 21st Terrace in Miami, FL.  The event is open to the General Public as well as Basel collectors and gallerists.  Friday’s Gallery showing will run from 10AM to 6PM and admission is free.  Saturday’s Gallery showings and live painting demonstrations will run from 10AM to 6PM and are $10.00 for the general Public and free for Art Basel attendees.  Saturday’s After Basel party begins at 9PM and runs through the night. Saturday’s events will also feature DJ’s and live painting exhibitions that begin at noon with headliner and godfather of hip hop, DJ Cool Herc, spinning from midnight to 4:00 AM.  Admission for Saturday Night is $20.00 and available in advance or at the door.  Admission also allows entrance to the Scion Ice Bar, which will be open from 10PM to 2AM.
