ERNI VALES – for Mercadito Midtown Miami

For the second year in a row, contemporary urban artist Erni Vales will be ERNI VALES - for Mercadito Midtown Miamimaking an appearance at Art Midtown through his collaboration with Mercadito Restaurants.  The artist behind the large scale murals that cover the walls of upscale Mexican lounge and restaurant, Mercadito Midtown Miami, which debuted during Art Midtown 2009, Vales is best known for his 3-D graffiti style of art.  Vales has recreated stunning Aztec pyramids of Mexico with a dramatic stone-like sun and horses on walls; a striking woman in his signature graffiti style and an eye-catching mural of painstakingly-designed individual murals that come together to form an eagle devouring a snake, a traditional Mexican symbol.

Adding on to his existing butterfly mural in Mercadito Midtown Miami, Vales will be painting live in a special Art Midtown exhibit on Thursday, December 2, starting at 11 a.m.  Vales will be bringing to life the yearly Monarch butterfly migration from Canada to Michoacan, Mexico through the addition of several new butterflies on the walls surrounding the butterfly mural.

Vales’ live painting exhibition inside Art Midtown 2010 can be viewed at Mercadito Midtown Miami at 3252 NE First Avenue (Midtown Boulevard). Sessions include 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Admission is free.
