DIY NETWORK'S FIRST-EVER INTERACTIVE HOME RENOVATION SERIES, RUN MY RENOVATION, PREMIERING AUGUST 19TH

Building off the success of Blog Cabin, television’s first-ever interactive homebuilding series, DIY Network leads the online charge again with the nation’s first interactive home renovation series, Run My Renovation, on Thursday, Aug. 19 at 10:30 p.m. ET. Debuting after the fourth season of Blog Cabin, Run My Renovation, hosted by carpenter Joannie Dodds and licensed contractor John DeSilvia asks homeowners to turn their renovations over to DIYnetwork.com users to make all the design decisions through online voting, leaving homeowners with no say at all, and giving viewers the chance to be armchair contractors. 

Run My Renovation offers homeowners an intriguing proposition: DIY Network will provide the makeover if you’ll allow the American public to make all the design decisions through online voting,” says Kathleen Finch, DIY Network’s general manager. “Turning over the design of your home to strangers sitting in front of computers makes Run My Renovation unlike any other home makeover series on television, and it exemplifies our strategy to grow both our television audience and web users through unique dual platform entry-points.” 

Across 13 episodes featuring different homeowners and rooms in their homes, Run My Renovation is packed with drama and plenty of home improvement know-how as DIYnetwork.com users design by democracy. Even if the homeowners don’t like the product choices or designs, they must work alongside Dodds and DeSilvia on the renovation. Regardless of the flooring, cabinets or paint color, the homeowner is forced to live with what America thinks is best. 

DIY Network’s original groundbreaking multimedia experience, Blog Cabin, is based on a very simple idea: “You Design It, We Build It, You Could Win It!” This truly interactive series asks Internet users and viewers to vote and blog on the design features of the ultimate vacation home and offers a chance for one lucky viewer to win it.  Also hosted by DeSilvia, this year’s Blog Cabin premieres on Thursday, Aug. 19 at 10 p.m. ET and features a team of DIY Network’s expert hosts transforming a 3-bedroom, 2-bath 1970s ranch house into a modern-day retreat. On five acres in upstate New York, Blog Cabin offers rolling hills, panoramic views and mountain breezes overlooking the infamous site of the Woodstock Festival. 

Executive producer and Emmy winner Bruce Irving brings together two of television’s most popular renovation franchises, DIY Network and This Old House, with a new primetime magazine series, This New House. This joint venture features building technologies and innovative materials currently shaping the future of the $272 billion home improvement and homebuilding industries. On Thursday, July 29 at 8 p.m. ET, DIY Network’s This New House showcases everything from frozen smoke used as insulation, rammed earth construction, to a two-story home constructed from shipping containers. 

To drive awareness, DIY Network and This Old House are coming together to create a broad audience for both brands through print, online and on-air efforts.  DIY Network will promote the primetime series via on-air and off-channel marketing, and online promotion on its companion Web site, DIYnetwork.com. In turn, This Old House promotes the new series in nationally syndicated episodes of This Old House, on ThisOldHouse.com and in the This Old House magazine and e-newsletter.  Both DIY Network and This Old House are also sharing show content on their respective Web sites. 

DIY Network adds adrenaline to its summer slate with DIY Dominator, an exciting new competition series similar to Iron Chef on Scripps Network’s sister network, Food Network. In each episode, premiering on Friday, July 30 at 10 p.m. ET, host Chris Grundy oversees head-to-head construction and home improvement competitions, bringing best in class together in head-to-head competitions. From brick laying battles to welding, carpentry and landscaping challenges, three competitors battle it out to earn DIY Dominator title and a $10,000 cash prize.
