Buddy Walk 15th Anniversary Celebration & 5K Run 2010 October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month

On Sunday, October 24th at North Beach Park, 3501 North Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL the Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization is hosting a community wide event to raise awareness for people with Down syndrome and their families. The walk officially starts at 9 a.m.; registration begins at 7:45am.  All registered participants receive a Buddy Walk T-shirt, breakfast, lunch and entertainment for the whole family.

Part of a nationwide initiative and in conjunction with the National Down Syndrome Society, the Buddy Walk was developed in 1995 to promote acceptance and inclusion for people with Down syndrome, while raising money for local and national education, research and advocacy initiatives.

Enjoy a light breakfast before the walk and after the walk, stay for a picnic lunch, and participate in raffle prize giveaways. 97.3 Coast FM and The Party Pros DJ will be on-site providing entertainment for the whole family.

Opening the walk is Mayor of Hollywood Peter Bober along with Monica & David from the HBO documentary.

The Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization, a 501c3 organization, is a non-profit parent support group working to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome.
