Kiko Sobrino, Brazilian artist and designer known worldwide for his artistic versatility and irreverence, will showcase his latest works following Art Basel at an exclusive reception hosted by Granite Transformations in the Miami Design District on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. Sobrino will transform the Granite Transformations showroom into a visual extravaganza, providing guests with a live painting demonstration which will converge art with home design using mosaic tiles from Granite Transformations’ parent company, Trend Group, a respected international manufacturer and distributor of unique mosaic tiles and natural stones headquartered in Vicenza, Italy with production facilities and offices in several countries.

Kiko Sobrino is a designer and artist recognized for his irreverent and playful work. His artistic flair was evident in his most recent exhibition of paintings presented at Agora Gallery in New York, which followed a theme of sustainability. He also created the concept space and business club Lab & Factory, located in the Jardins neighborhood of São Paulo. After graduating from FAAP (Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado) and Santa Marcelina and obtaining a post-graduate degree in design at the Domus Academy (Milan), Sobrino expanded his portfolio to include projects for more than 100 different brands. He is a constant presence in art galleries around the world, including Wonderland in Milan and Green House in Stockholm. For more information about Kiko Sobrino, visit www.kikosobrino.com/.

“I believe that Trend mosaic represents the best there is in the world,” said Sobrino. “I use it to conceptualize ideas that can be applied to residential, as well as commercial environments. It is the flexibility of mosaic that has always attracted me, since I like to create not only two dimensional but also three dimensional spaces and unique master pieces. It is a pleasure to work with a brand and material that tell the history of art.”

Trend actively supports the contemporary art world as a leading member of the Intrapresae Collezione Guggenheim Association and by funding the biannual Orsoni Prize for International Mosaic Art. Trend Group has demonstrated its ability to synthesize the essential principles of Italian tradition with the dynamic creativity of today’s most celebrated designers, architects and artists.

“Our mosaic tiles are visually appealing and incredibly versatile, making them a perfect medium to work with artistically,” said Andrea Di Giuseppe, International Chief Executive Officer of Trend Group. “Sobrino’s installation captures our company’s soul that is shaped by a deep commitment to environmental concerns and cultural vibrancy.”

Sobrino’s exhibition “Heart Installation,” a three-dimensional piece coated with white mosaic tiles from Trend Group, can be seen at the second annual Miami River Art Fair at the Downtown Miami Convention Center inside the James L. Knight International Center from Thursday, Dec. 5 to Sunday, Dec. 8. Expanding on the artist’s interest in the world’s interconnectedness, “Heart Installation” follows a similar concept of sustainability that he presented in an exhibition last year in New York’s Agora Gallery.
