In an interview with Tobi L Sigona , Avi Hiaeve, CEO and founder of Avi & Co., reflected on his remarkable journey to success. “I had a dream. All I needed was a dollar. They say in America all you need is a dollar and a dream, right? My dad gave me the dollar. I had the dream. I put it together.” His story serves as an inspiration, proving that hard work and passion can elevate anyone, regardless of origin.

“Music plays a vital role in my business. It’s about creating a vibe—a unique experience,” Hiaeve said.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, luxury watch and jewelry retailer Avi & Co. hosted an exclusive celebration at its Miami Design District location as a prelude to Latin Music Week. The event featured an impressive display of the latest luxury timepieces and jewelry, fostering an atmosphere of elegance while honoring the vibrant Latin music community. I had the opportunity to interview Hiaeve for Premier Guide Miami about his connections and successes within this cultural sphere.

Based in Manhattan’s Diamond District, Avi & Co. operates boutique locations in New York City, Miami, and Aspen. The retailer is known for its extensive selection of prestigious Swiss brands, including Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, and Rolex. With an unparalleled inventory, Avi & Co. boasts the largest selection of these sought-after watches, along with a loyal customer base. Over 500 five-star reviews on Google reflect the trust and satisfaction of discerning clients. However, due to the rarity and high demand for these exquisite timepieces, locating a dream watch can be challenging. That’s where Avi & Co. excels; many of their offerings are unique, and if a specific piece is not in stock, they leverage a vast network of global suppliers to help customers find exactly what they seek.

Building lasting relationships is a priority for Avi & Co., with clients that include athletes, musicians, and celebrities. Hiaeve, who has cultivated connections within the Latin music scene for nearly two decades, expressed his excitement about these relationships. “I was introduced to this community by a friend, and since then, I’ve developed many valuable connections,” he said. “Last year, I invited many of them to our event; some came, and others couldn’t make it, but we’re committed to giving back to the community.”

Initially headquartered in New York, Avi & Co. expanded to Miami in 2023 and recently opened a new store in Aspen. When discussing the Miami market, Hiaeve shared, “I love it. It’s more of a destination. In New York, I’m on the second floor—my clients have to know me to find me, and that’s exactly how I prefer it.” He emphasized the importance of understanding his clientele, who often seek high-value luxury items.

Avi & Co. has forged significant relationships within the local community, counting notable figures such as restaurateur David Grutman and celebrities like DJ Khaled and Nicky Jam among friends and patrons. “We’re always connecting with people in the industry,” he noted.

A prominent display of the evening was the Isabel Grutman collection, a collaboration that began last year. “Isabella has great taste in jewelry,” Hiaeve remarked. “It was a successful venture that combined our distinct styles—my focus is on heavier diamond pieces, while her aesthetic leans toward funky, everyday jewelry.” The response has been overwhelmingly positive, confirming the synergy between their brands.

Avi appreciates the vibrant lifestyle Miami offers. “The nightlife, the weather, and the vibes are incredible here,” he said enthusiastically. His favorite local club is LIV, a favorite hangout for himself and his clientele, while Papi Steak remains his top dining choice. “I was just there last night!” he exclaimed.

As for date night ideas, he mused, “I haven’t been on a date in a long time. If I did, I’d prefer a quieter place to really connect. I’d take her to Mila.”

Looking ahead, Hiaeve shared exciting plans for his brand. “We just acquired a building in New York—moving our headquarters to Fifth Avenue—the Playboy building!” he said, exuding enthusiasm for this new chapter. “There are a lot of good things in the works. It’s the beginning of a new era. I always stay humble and remain tied to the community.”

Giving back is a core value for Avi & Co. The founder supports an organization that aids widows and families in need. “We distribute food gift cards during the holidays so families can buy what they need. This year, we hope to double our impact,” he stated with determination.
