BUILT Inc., the Miami and Los Angeles design studio founded by John M. Sofio, opens its Little River studio at 158 NW 73rd Street for six days during Miami Art Week. BUILT Miami Design Week 2026: Patterns in Design runs December 1–6 and introduces new product collections, an Italian design collaboration, a live artist-in-residence program, and two hands-on workshops. The studio will be open daily from 9am to 9pm, with featured programming at the times listed below.
Tuesday, December 1 from 3 to 6pm brings the launch of the QS1 and DS1 hi-fi music consoles — two pieces that grew directly out of Sofio's three decades designing custom DJ booths for hospitality venues. The QS1 is a sculptural chrome digital console; the DS1 pairs analog audio with a rosewood exterior. Both are designed as statement furniture for residential listening spaces, combining the functionality of a home sound system with the craftsmanship of a custom-designed furnishing. Both will be demonstrated live.
Wednesday, December 2 from 3 to 6pm introduces Assisi, a wood flooring collection designed by Sofio in collaboration with Italian manufacturer Listone Giordano. The collection draws from the centuries-old stone floors of the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi — three designs, Ascend, Giulia, and Bella, translate those architectural influences into wood. Representatives from Listone Giordano will join BUILT for the official unveiling.
Thursday, December 3 from 3 to 6pm unveils eight original rugs made from New Zealand wool. Geometric patterns, strong contrasts, and textured surfaces reflect the studio's preference for expressive interiors and carefully considered materials. All eight designs will be available for purchase.
Friday, December 4 from 6 to 9pm is the gallery opening for KALI — Florida-based painter Kali Sierra, who sold out her Miami Art Week exhibition in 2025. She has developed a new body of work specifically for BUILT, using loose impressionistic forms that approach abstraction. Her paintings combine simplified figures, richly textured surfaces, and references to historical objects — works including Sallie Gardner Under Stars, Reincarnated Matador, and Another Votive for Pierre. Visitors can watch her paint live in the studio daily from 9am to 6pm December 1 through 5 before the Friday opening.
Saturday, December 5 at 11am: Sofio leads a drawing workshop examining how an initial idea develops into a plan for a physical space. Through guided visualization and sketching exercises, participants work from a concept to an original drawing they take home. Advance RSVP required; limited seating. Email info@builtinc.com.
Sunday, December 6 at 11am: 'Analog vs. Digital' closes the week with a discussion-based session using the QS1 and DS1 consoles as case studies to examine the distinctions between analog and digital sound — and how those principles extend to other artistic mediums. Listening demonstrations, interactive exercises, and audience participation. Advance RSVP required; limited seating. Email info@builtinc.com.
