The Unmarked Door Has a New Address: Apotheke Opens on Washington Avenue
Apotheke — the New York speakeasy-style cocktail bar that started behind an unmarked door on Doyers Street — opens its South Beach location on October 16 inside Moxy South Beach.

This Weekend's Geography
1 neighborhoodApotheke South Beach officially opens on October 16 inside Moxy South Beach on Washington Avenue. The brand began in 2008 behind an unmarked oak door on New York City's Doyers Street in Chinatown — a speakeasy-style cocktail bar built around the idea that plants are medicine and that a well-made drink is its own kind of remedy. The South Beach location brings that philosophy to Miami with nine original formulas built exclusively for this market.
Named for the old-world apothecary and rooted in the belief that plants are medicine — every cocktail is a formula.
The Formula List reads like a menu from a different era of cocktail culture. Novia Del Sol pairs vodka with butterfly pea flower, yuzu, and elderflower. Coco Loco builds on coconut-washed rum with mango, lime, and chili. Midnight Garden layers mezcal with activated charcoal, blackberry, and rosemary. Each drink is designed to reflect the Miami environment — tropical, layered, and a little unexpected.
Apotheke South Beach was co-founded by siblings Heather Tierney and the late Christopher Tierney, who opened the original New York location after years in the hospitality industry. The brand has since expanded to Los Angeles and now Miami — each location with its own exclusive formula list rather than a standardized menu. The venue sits within Moxy South Beach's broader dining and nightlife lineup, which includes Serena, the rooftop pool bar.
Opens October 16. Apotheke South Beach is inside Moxy South Beach, Washington Avenue, Miami Beach. Look for the unmarked door — that's the point. Reservations recommended for opening week.
The PGM Edit
