Fashionistas and divas alike will get the chance to experience “UPTOWN Escape” Girl’s Day Out held on Saturday, March 20th from 10am-2pm at the Gansevoort Hotel on South Beach [2377 Collins Ave]. The event, presented by UPTOWN Magazine and The Peter Thomas Entertainment Group (PTEG), is open to the public with guests to include celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine, Nia Long, Nicole Ari Parker-Kodjoe, & Boris Kodjoe.
Held during the week of “UPTOWN Escape, 2010: An Upscale Getaway,” which is a five-day long luxury retreat attracting celebrities, athletes, and music business executives, guests attending “UPTOWN Escape” Girl’s Day Out will experience a fun filled day of beauty treatments and pamper sessions with the Beauty Suite sponsored by CoverGirl Queen Collection. The beauty suite will feature makeup demonstrations and makeovers by celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine who has worked with the likes of Vanessa Williams, Iman, Halle Berry, Beyonce, and Tyra Banks among many others. Vogue Magazine calls Sam Fine “the go-to makeup master for women of color.” In attendance will also be some of South Florida’s top salons and stylists for women of color.
In addition to indulging in all things beauty, guests will also gain knowledge and insight with panels on health and wellness and a wealth empowerment panel presented by The Nielsen Company. During that entire day, guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy Spa Day, a pamper session with exclusive spa packages offered by participating South Beach hotels to include the David Barton Gym located in the Gansevoort South, the Bliss Spa located in the W, and The Spa at the Setai.
Other events to be held during the week of March 18th-20th for “UPTOWN Escape, 2010: An Upscale Getaway” include an exclusive opening reception on Thursday, March 18th at Philippe Chow in conjunction with famed South Beach promoter Tommy Pooch; a Celebrity Golf Invitational on Friday, March 19th with a plethora of NBA and NFL athletes and held at the prestigious Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura in conjunction with the City of Miami Gardens and the 5th Annual Jazz in the Gardens music festival; a star-studded Salute to Excellence Dinner on Friday evening, March 19th honoring Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer Bryan Michael Cox, actress Nia Long, music executives Steve Rifkind of SRC Records and Ted Lucas of Slip n Slide Records, super producers Cool & Dre, Roger Bobb of Tyler Perry Studios, and Will Packer and Rob Hardy of Rainforest Films and producers of the blockbuster movie Obsessed starring Beyonce and Idris Elba.
