Yamaha Marine’s U.S. Business Unit introduced an innovative leap in boating technology today at the 2025 Miami International Boat Show®, unveiling the all-new Helm Master EX Wireless Control feature. This cutting-edge development promises to redefine the boating experience, placing exceptional convenience and control right in the palm of boaters’ hands.
“This innovative feature of Helm Master EX has the ability to transform the boating experience with precision, automation, and smart functionality,” said Ben Speciale, President of Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit. “In a nutshell, the new Wireless Control gives captains the opportunity to make the most of their time on the water.”
Yamaha’s Helm Master EX Wireless Control allows boat operators to navigate their vessels with unparalleled freedom, enabling them to move around the boat while maintaining complete control at all times. The system features a handheld controller that includes joystick functionality, autopilot control, and a man overboard (MOB) function—ensuring both captains and passengers are secure.
Imagine the serene waters of Biscayne Bay, where the sun glints off the waves as captains deftly maneuver their boats with a simple touch. With the new Wireless Control System, single-handed operation is not just possible; it’s effortless. The added fingertip button grants boaters the ability to throw lines or adjust fenders without losing their grip on navigation. Depth, heading, and speed can now be monitored seamlessly, making every trip a pleasurable journey through Miami’s stunning waterways.
Safety remains paramount, with the integrated MOB system automatically triggering the boat to decelerate or stop in the event of a passenger going overboard. Each vessel can support multiple crew members with MOB fobs, ensuring peace of mind while enjoying Miami’s vibrant marine life.
Additionally, the Wireless Control System provides easy access to the Helm Master EX Autopilot, allowing captains to set and adjust their course with ease. Features such as StayPoint®, FishPoint®, and DriftPoint® are now readily accessible, making it simple for boaters to keep their favorite fishing spots or scenic views in sight—all while enjoying the lively atmosphere of Miami’s coastline.
During anchoring, the wireless controller allows for full engine control, enhancing convenience and operation. With a buoyant design, retrieving the device if it falls overboard becomes hassle-free—a vital feature when navigating the bustling waters of South Florida.
The Helm Master EX Wireless Control will be available for dealer installation in Fall 2025, requiring updated software for existing systems, and promises to enhance the experience for both seasoned mariners and newcomers alike.
In addition to the groundbreaking control system, Yamaha provided updates on its pioneering work in sustainable marine technology during the show. The company’s hydrogen-powered outboard, the H2, is currently undergoing testing at Yamaha’s facility in Bridgeport, Alabama. Speciale expressed optimism about hydrogen’s future role in marine performance, stating, “We believe a multiple technology solution is the best way to achieve cleaner products on the water, and hydrogen represents one of those pathways within our product line.”
Yamaha’s commitment to carbon neutrality is evident, as the company explores a suite of solutions designed to mitigate environmental impact, including electric and hybrid power options following its acquisition of electric marine propulsion leader Torqeedo GmbH.
As Miami embraces the latest in boating innovation, Yamaha stands at the forefront, enabling boaters to navigate the waters with newfound freedom, safety, and sustainability.
