Pettibon incorporates literature, popular culture, Hispanic comic strips, noir cinema and everything that might be considered American culture. From boy bands, to Walt Disney, the Kennedy administration, the art world, and the shifts in the authorial voice, often inspire complex readings.

Over the last two decades Raymond Pettibon has acquired an international reputation as one of the foremost contemporary American artists working with drawing and text. Pettibon’s work was featured at Documenta XI in Kassell, Germany, at the 52nd Venice Biennale, and in numerous Whitney Biennials, where in 2004 he won the prestigious Bucksbaum Award.

The exhibition opens November 14, 2009, from 7-10pm and runs through January 29, 2009. World Class Boxing is open Monday through Friday 10-5pm.
