WALKING TOUR OF MIAMI BEACH HISTORIC ART DECO DISTRICT IN FRENCH

Organized by Alliance France Miami Metro, and lead by Art Deco historian Veronika Pozmentier this walking tour of the Art Deco Historic District tells in French the story of a small sandbar island raising in few decades from a mangrove swamp to a vibrant tropical resort thanks to the Art Deco Architecture built in the 30’ s. The tropical Art Deco architectural style of Miami Beach took its inspiration in the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs Industriels Modernes.

The district, almost destroyed in the 70’s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, is today an open-air museum of preserved historic Art Deco buildings. The Art Deco District with more than 11 million visitors in 2017 has become one of the most sought-after destination in the US.
