BRAVO’S Real Housewives of Atlanta star Lisa Wu Hartwell and Women on the Move founder Leslie Harris successfully hosted Unveil Your Pink, the first fundraiser from Women on the Move, benefitting The South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The event, which took place on March 20, 2010 at the Boca Raton at the Boca Resort & Club in Boca Raton, FL, raised over $200,000.00 through ticket sales, casino games and auction items.
Women on the Move is the new network that aims to serve as a support system highlighting the positive experiences of women and their many passions. Harris felt the need for more interaction and more networking in a positive way between women and created the website in hopes that women from different locations, backgrounds, and cultures, could come together to promote the sharing of ideas, advice, and support through various social media (blogs, facebook and twitter) and charitable events. While only a few months old, the group has grown to over 5,000 members and counting.
While guests such as Lisa Wu Hartwell & Ed Hartwell, Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel and the Honorable Consul General Ralph Latortue, the Consul General of Haiti in Florida Southern U.S. and Itchko Ezratti of G.L. Homes walked the pink carpet, the crowd of 300 VIP guests enjoyed tunes by DJ Cassidy, a champagne reception poolside complete with cocktails by Nuvo and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly , a full raw bar, Casino games and raffle prizes such as trips to see the American Idol finale, Killian candles and gift certificates to Bluefly.com, which came inside red leather clutches. Models dressed in the latest fashions from Lanvin, Tory Burch, Michael Kors and Alice + Olivia, provided by Saks Fifth Avenue, were on hand to greet guests and distribute Casino game chips.
Silent auction items included a luxury trip to Scotland, tickets to an Oprah taping complete with airfare and hotel, internships at Versace, autographed Michael Jackson Thriller album, autographed Rolling Stones guitar, autographed Bruce Springsteen guitar, overnight stay at luxury hotel The Brazilian Court, trip to New York City Fashion Week and a trip to see the Masters tournament.
