DOG, A Shadow Puppet Play
By Pablo Cano and Jim Hammond
2:30-3:30 pm at Lowe Art Museum
Art activity
In celebration of the exhibition, Sacred Stories, Timeless Tales, the Lowe presents another form of storytelling: the art of shadow puppetry.
Pablo Cano and Jim Hammond present “DOG, A Shadow Puppet Play.” Cano has collaborated with master puppeteer Jim Hammond in its writing and production. It is a story about a dog that pursues a “red squeaky ball” through ten famous paintings and sculptures in art history. The ball is used as a metaphor for each of our simplest pursuits of happiness. Keeping true with his use of found materials for his artwork, Pablo created each shadow puppet from plastic BEWARE OF THE DOG signs. “DOG” brings together art education, music, and entertainment to young and old alike.
The performance is recommended for ages 6 years and up and lasts approximately 40 minutes. The room will be very dark.
Admission is $10 for Lowe members; $15 for non-members.
