The Great Wine Seminar is a three day annual event put on by L’ecole du Vin. For those who have never been this is a first quality event where we do educational seminars while tasting verticals of each featured vinyard. From the quality of glassware to the maticulous care of every detail these 5 tastings and two dinners are all first class tasting opportunities. It is a magical weekend.
This year our moderator will be Roger Bohmrich Master of Wine. Friday night “once in a lifetime” tasting will feature Chateau d”Yquem presented by Pierre Lurton the General Manager. This evening will start with a light supper and then adjourn to the tasting room. We will have a vertical of wines going back to 1959!- Maybe More! this is truly and experienec not to be missed.
Saturday morning we start with a breakfast and then get to business. Approximatly 50 years of Chateau Cheval Blanc again with Pierre Lurton. The standard for all Burgundies Domaine Armand Rousseau with Eric Rousseau and ending Saturday’s tastings with Opus One Winery hosted by CEO David Pearson all the way back to the first vintage!Sunday morning our finalé Taittinger’s Comte de Champagne with Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger will fill your day. Each of these tastings are not only presented by the best possible representers of the vineyards but the wines themselves are impeccable with almost every bottle coming from the Chateaux..
Saturday evening a single vintage of each wine will be pared with a gourmet dinner skillfully prepared by Chef Oliver Saucy of Café Maxx. Chef Ollie as he is known does wine tastings and pairings weekly and is not only a fabulous Chef but he clearly understands that the food is made as a complement to the wine and visa versa. The dinner is something not to be missed. Extra seats are available for the dinner only to participants at the seminar (so bringing your spouse or a friend is most welcome).
Sunday morning after a specatculare evening we arrise to the final tasting and fairwell until nexy year. It alwasy ends bitter sweet and everyone is floating from joy and ecstacy thinking it doen not get better than this!
