One of world music’s most exciting projects this year is Chamber Music. No it’s not a classical string quartet; it’s a collaboration between Malian kora player Ballake Sissoko and French trip-hop cellist Vincent Segal, now out on always ground-breaking Six Degrees Records. The harp-like kora of West Africa meets the classic depth of the cello in a match that mirrors the friendship between the musicians. The music is elegant, beautiful and truly cross-cultural.
The silent auction is full of unique and wonderful items – restaurants, vacation getaways near and far, art, unique experiences, exquisite gifts and housewares, one of a kind items autographed by RF artists like Buika, Bomba Estereo, Seun Kuti. This is not your bridge club’s silent auction. The items will be featured online starting September 12th, and the auction concludes at the party on the 30th.
Proceeds from the 2011/ 2012 fundraiser help us match our Knight Foundation Arts Challenge Grant in support of Big Night in Little Haiti.
This event is made possible by the generous Rhythm Foundation members and Board, the City of Miami and the Little Haiti Cultural Center, Heineken USA, Pasha’s Healthy Mediterreanean Cuisine, Veev and Spuntino Bakery and Catering.
