Team FootWorks Launches New Pearl Izumi Elite Running Division at Miami Corporate Run

As the third largest 5k in the country, it is no surprise that the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run in Miami continues to entice elite runners who are not full time employees or part of a company team. To celebrate the race’s 25th anniversary, Team FootWorks and Pearl Izumi have introduced a new Elite Running Division which is sure to take the tri-county series to the next level.

“As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are always looking for ways to make the race better,” said Hans Huseby, Team FootWorks president. “By adding the Pearl Izumi Elite Division, we are excited to recognize the fastest runners of the evening, regardless of if they are on a corporate team or not.”

The Pearl Izumi Elite Division will be made up of male runners who can complete a 5k in less than 19 minutes and female runners who can complete a 5k in less than 20 minutes. Runners are invited to enter the Elite Division and will vie for a piece of the $3,000 prize purse which will distributed amongst the top five male and top five female finishers. Although being a member of a corporate team is not required, elite runners are encouraged to welcome their co-workers to join them at the race, keeping in mind the goal of the Corporate Run: to promote health and fitness at all levels and provide a venue to boost company morale and encourage camaraderie in the workplace.

With more than 20,000 runners and walkers from 550 companies expected to flood Bayfront Park in Miami on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 6:45 p.m., the run continues to grow. The run provides the opportunity for co-workers to get together and work as a team in the spirit of a friendly competition outside of the workplace.

The Run is open to employees of businesses, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions and non-profits-no matter how big or small. Everyone is encouraged to participate and may enter an unlimited number of employees to walk or run as a group. A portion of the proceeds from the tri-county race series will benefit the South Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Event sponsors for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run series include Mercedes-Benz, Aetna, American Airlines, Baptist Health, Pearl Izumi, Sharp Business Solutions, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. and Vitamin Water Zero.
