SHORT TERM “TRAVEL” EXPERIENCES

Still Go Wine Tasting: St. Supery winemakers in Napa Valley will be hosting an interactive virtual wine tasting each Thursday. The series will run through a tasting of one vintage per week, and the sampler pack can be purchased here. The winery will use Zoom to facilitate with the session and will share the dedicated URL closer to the time to those who have bought the sampler, as well as fans who express interest. It will be a two-way conversation – meaning participants can engage and ask questions.

Build Your Own Castle: Dromoland Castle, a 16th century castle in the Irish countryside of County Clare, is helping virtual travelers build their very own castle at home – when they aren’t able to visit. The Castle’s own Una Heaton, former museum curator and watercolor artist, is leading virtual arts and crafts projects for families to join while homeschooling. The first video is a step-by-step tutorial on how to craft a castle from materials found around the house, including big castle doors, stone towers and tiny Irish flags.

Go on Safari

The worldwide lockdown may have reduced the capacity for people to travel to distant places, but the one thing it cannot squelch is their appetite for new and exotic experiences. In a quest to relieve the tedium of isolation and bring the beauty of the natural world right to their guests, luxury travel company andBeyond and wildlife broadcasting experts WildEarth have come together to stream twice daily, personalized game drives that erstwhile travelers can view from the comfort of their home. Viewers can to join up to two live safaris a day, each of which will last approximately three hours. These are streamed in real-time from two renowned South African game reserves, andBeyond Ngala Private Game Reserve (which shares unfenced borders with the famed Kruger National Park) and Djuma Private Game Reserve (part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve). Authentic and non-scripted, the game drives follow the sights and sounds of the African wilderness as they unfold. Hosted by expert andBeyond and WildEarth field guides, the drives are being streamed over a variety of social media platforms each day during the month of April.
