SAWGRASS MILLS ADDS IMAXR THEATRE AT REGAL SAWGRASS STADIUM 23

Sawgrass Mills, one of the world’s most popular shopping destinations and the largest outlet, value retail and entertainment center in the United States with more than 350 stores, now has another exciting entertainment option with the newly installed IMAX Experience® at Regal Sawgrass Stadium 23. Attracting record crowds as movie fans of all ages enjoy Alice in Wonderland in IMAX® 3D, the new IMAX only enhances the exciting mix of retail, dining and entertainment available at Sawgrass Mills.

An IMAX digital projection system illuminates a specially-designed IMAX screen in one of the existing auditoriums at Regal Sawgrass Stadium 23 where a powerful audio system was also installed to deliver laser-aligned digital sound.

Films are projected on a specially-designed screen that is slightly curved and moved forward to further immerse the audience. Images of exceptional quality, combined with IMAX’s proprietary digital surround sound system and patented theatre geometry create “The IMAX Experience,” making audiences feel as if they are IN the movie. 

Regal IMAX Theatres also offer IMAX® 3D. When filmmakers choose to integrate IMAX 3D into their movies, images leap off of the screen and into the laps of the audience, further enhancing the feeling of being IN the movie. This is made possible by a combination of IMAX’s powerful 3D projection system – which simultaneously projects two separate images onto the IMAX screen – and polarized IMAX 3D glasses that audience members wear to fuse the two images into a single three-dimensional motion picture. The result is an amazing IMAX 3D Experience where the screen disappears and the movie envelopes the audience. 

Movies coming soon to the Regal IMAX Theatre include: How to Train Your Dragon 3D (3/26), Iron Man 2 (5/7), Shrek Forever After 3D (5/21), Toy Story 3 in 3D (6/18), and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (6/30).

This exciting development follows the recent completion of the expansion of The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills with new luxury retail outlets such as Canali, Tag Heuer, Tommy Bahama’s Outlet, Tumi and True Religion Brand Jeans, plus Villagio offering another great dining experience for shoppers 

It also coincides with the announcement of Giorgio Armani General Store opening this summer as part of The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills.
