Books & Books will host an impromptu presentation and Q&A with Mindy Seegal Abovitz, the publisher of the world’s only magazine about female drummers, TOM TOM MAGAZINE. Mindy’s in Miami for a brief visit and we thought it would be fun to hear her thoughts on women in music & media. Liz Tracy (music editor at The New Times) will be facilitating the talk and asking Mindy questions about the current climate of print media and women’s representation in it. After they’ve talked and taken questions, QUARTER HORSES, a locally-based women’s drumming group, will give a free LIVE PERFORMANCE in our courtyard!
Tom Tom Magazine is a quarterly full-color print magazine based out of Brooklyn, NY and distributed globally. It has been in print since 2009 and is going strong. Tom Tom has a website, social media, events and an ever growing community of readers and fans who all feel that recognition for female drummers is long overdue.
