The 2013-2014 Sixth Anniversary JAZZ ROOTS season kicks off with a spectacular concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the iconic film, The Pink Panther, and its composer –  the musical genius HENRY MANCINI, who is renowned for his memorable film and television scores. This one-night-only tribute program celebrates MANCINI’s career in an unprecedented multi-media setting with music and film projections from the composer’s hit films and TV shows, including The Pink Panther, Peter Gunn, Days of Wine and Roses, Hatari, Charade, Mr. Lucky, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and many more. The concert features an all-star roster of special guest artists, backed by the University of Miami Frost School of Music’s extraordinary HENRY MANCINI INSTITUTE ORCHESTRA. Guest soloists include international superstar JON SECADA; sultry vocalist and Grammy nominee MONICA MANCINI – daughter of the late MANCINI; the powerhouse vocalist heralded by the Huffington Post as “this generation’s First Lady of Jazz” NICOLE HENRY; and the Miami debut of New York based French singer CYRILLE AIMÉE, who recently took top prize in the first-ever Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition. Also on the bill are multi-Grammy winning saxophonist TOM SCOTT and Grammy nominated jazz arranger and Dean of the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music Shelly BerG on piano. This special show will close the Frost School of Music’s annual Festival Miami celebration.
